black bean banana lime mash

A creative combo for babies 6 months and up.

The darker the beans, the more antioxidants they contain, so black beans are chock-full!

This recipe is suitable for freezing and is from Jen's cookbook, Growing Up Gourmet.

Makes 2 cups (four 1/2 cup servings)

ingredients

2 small ripe bananas

1 can pre-cooked black beans

½ avocado, peeled and pitted

2 tsp. fresh lime juice

 

  1. Rinse black beans under cold water to remove canning liquid and excess sodium.
  2. Place beans, bananas, avocado and lime juice in your food processor with 3 tbsp. breast milk, water or formula and puree, adding more liquid in 1 tbsp. increments until desired consistency is reached.

Try a pinch of cilantro for a new flavour.
