Baby Gourmet Wins The Canadian Retail Grocery Council’s Annual Grand Prix Award For Most Innovative Baby Product in 2017

Shakers Organic Nutritional Beverage is named top innovator in the Baby Food & Drink  category

Calgary, Alberta – May 31, 2018 – Baby Gourmet, Canada’s leading organic baby food company, announced today that Shakers, an organic nutritional beverage made with 80% organic whole milk, fortified with 24+ vitamins and minerals and a touch of pumpkin, is the recipient of Canadian Retail Grocery Council’s 2017 Annual Grand Prix Award for innovation in baby food & drink category. From 119 finalists who scored at least 70% on the rigorous product evaluation measures that focused exclusively on quality and innovation, only 40 products received the prestigious recognition as Canadian Grand Prix New Product Award winners.

“It is truly an honour for the Baby Gourmet team to be acknowledged for this breakthrough innovation.  We strive to develop products that make a difference in parents and their child’s lives, and Shakers delivers this promise,” said Baby Gourmet CEO Michael Watt. “ Baby Gourmet will continue to lead innovative thinking in the Baby category as we look ahead to 2018 & beyond.  We are humbled to be alongside many deserving Canadian innovators receiving awards.”

Now in its 25th year, the Canadian Grand Prix New Product Awards™ is an annual program that celebrates new products in food, non-food and private-label categories. This awards program provides a unique opportunity for entrants to showcase their new products to a jury of industry experts and to be recognized by their peers. Judges grade each entry on five criteria: innovation and originality, product characteristics, presentation and packaging, overall consumer value and lastly, consumer acceptance value (household penetration rate of product).

The program is open to manufacturers, suppliers and distributors.  To be eligible, a product must have been introduced to the market between January 1 and December 31, 2017.
